Orlinda: Byrum Porter Senior Center Re-Opening Plan…

ORLINDA TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Efforts are underway for the Byrum Porter Senior Center to safely reopen along with a new enclosed expansion, outdoor concert and yard sale.

An update from Byrum-Porter Senior Center…

“We are planning a great opening for the month of July if Governor Lee permits. Lots of activities being planned (Covid 19 guidelines will be followed) and more coming. We have missed our participants and the phone has been ringing off the wall with people asking about when we will reopen.

We have completed our new enclosure, in the back of the building, and it brings in lots of light and will be a great space for us to use.

We now have a room we call the Red Room (because of the floor paint) and it will have our exercise equipment, be used for our Craft-Sewing Classes and also be home to a table to be used to play cards.

Please come out to see us when we reopen as we have been busy refreshing the center.

Our plans, at this time, is to have a free outdoor concert with the Good Time Charlie band for the whole community. Social Distancing can be practiced.

We also want to have an outdoor Yard Sale. Participants have been bringing items for us to sell so keep on the lookout for the next newsletter later in June for all the details.

Our exercise classes will be back as well as Tai Chi and we will have many new things that we can do safely.

Bus trips are still on for Fall and still time to sign up.”
