Pleasant Grove Road Reopens Following Rollover Crash in Cross Plains

CROSS PLAINS, TENNESSEE (Smokey Barn News) – A single-vehicle rollover crash early Wednesday morning caused a temporary closure of Pleasant Grove Road near Eddings Rd in Cross Plains. STREET VIEW MAP

According to Cross Plains Fire Chief Tommy Jackson, the crash occurred just before 6 a.m. A pickup truck traveling on Pleasant Grove Road failed to navigate a sharp curve, left the roadway, overturned, and landed in a creek.

When Chief Jackson arrived on the scene, the vehicle’s engine was cold, leading him to estimate that the crash had occurred at least two hours earlier. No driver was present when emergency crews arrived, and it appeared the driver had left the scene on their own. The hidden location of the vehicle in the creek likely made it difficult for passersby to spot the rash especially in the dark so it’s fortunate that the occupant(s) were (apparently) able to self-extract themselves from the vehicle without life-threatening injuries.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) is investigating the crash and has likely located the vehicle’s owner by this time. It is unclear if the vehicle was stolen or if the driver abandoned the scene.

Drake’s Towing recovered the vehicle, and Pleasant Grove Road has since reopened.

We’ll update this story as more information becomes available.
