Robertson County Schools Debut Gourmet Menu with Chicken Parmesan and Cordon Bleu
ROBERTSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) -The Robertson County Schools Nutrition Department is ready to introduce several new menu items this school year. Each has been carefully crafted to provide tasty entrée items that kitchen staff can prepare in minimal time.
Initially inspired by innovative techniques from a national conference attended by Nutrition Supervisor Patsi Gregory, some of the new menu items focus on transforming a classic favorite—the chicken patty—into delicious and diverse meals.
Traditionally used for chicken sandwiches, this item is now featured among the standout additions of homemade chicken parmesan and chicken cordon bleu. Yes, you read that right! The chicken parmesan features a high-quality chicken patty topped with rich marinara sauce and melted shredded mozzarella cheese. The chicken cordon bleu takes the same premium chicken patty and adds a slice of ham and melted cheese, offering a gourmet twist on a familiar favorite. These dishes not only promise great taste but are also designed to be simple to prepare, ensuring they do not require any extra labor from the dedicated kitchen staff.
In addition to these new chicken dishes, this year’s menu will also include a revamped macaroni and pasta bake, providing a fresh take on traditional spaghetti by using macaroni noodles. Pizza will remain a staple, but now with a creative spin: students will have the option to enjoy taco pizza, Hawaiian pizza, and other unique varieties made from a basic cheese pizza base. Every Thursday, middle and high school students will be offered three different pizza choices, ensuring a satisfying experience for all.
Not content with the status quo, excitement is also building for upcoming additions like beefy ramen noodles, which are set to make their debut later in the year.
All of these new recipes are the result of a collaborative effort by a focus group composed of program staff and highlight the district’s commitment to involving their team in menu development, hopefully ensuring that any changes are well-received and practical.
With these new and improved menu items, all district schools are set to provide nutritious, delicious, and engaging meals that are sure to boost student participation and satisfaction. The first of these exciting new dishes will be available starting Wednesday, August 21st.
