Local Teens Earn Rare Achievement Of Eagle Scout Rank
COOPERTOWN TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Formed in Coopertown in 2012, it took BSA Troop 443 only five years to produce its first Eagle Scouts, Evan E. Dupéré, 15, and Seth A. McUmber, 18 of Coopertown.
The two received their rank last Saturday, April 29, 2017, as The Eagle Court of Honor convened at Flewellyn Baptist Church, in Springfield, Tennessee.
Family and friends gathered to share the moment—a moment that brings honor to all those who play a role, or otherwise have a stake in, the lives of the recipients.
It was, however, no accident that Troop 443 accomplished this feat in such a short period of time. The Troop attracts not only high caliber young men like Dupéré and McUmber—at present, the Troop is eighteen strong–but it also attracts excellent, effective leaders like Scoutmaster, Ed Dupéré. Mr. Dupéré’s dedication, vision, and service above self were critical to the success of the boys passing from scouts to Eagle Scouts. Under his leadership, Troop 443 expects another four or five boys to earn the Eagle Scout Rank.
According to the National Eagle Scout Association, “Not every boy who joins a Boy Scout troop earns the Eagle Scout rank; only about 5 percent of all Boy Scouts do so.” Congratulations to everyone involved.
