SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – The City of Springfield has announced that Candice Tillman, the city’s public affairs coordinator, has been promoted to the position, Assistant City Manager.

Tillman has over 11 years of experience working in local government including previous management experience during her tenure with the City of Clarksville. She joined the City of Springfield as the public affairs coordinator in 2019.

“We are excited to have Candice step into this role,” said City Manager Ryan Martin. “She has the experience and a perspective to bring to this role that will help move the city forward, and will be a great addition to our management team.”

Back in November of 2019, Springfield announced that Tillman had been hired as the city’s new Public Affairs Coordinator. Tillman has extensive experience in the public relations and marketing fields having served as a Marketing and Public Relations Supervisor for the City of Clarksville. Tillman was with the City of Clarksville from 2010 until she joined the Springfield leadership team in 2019.

At the time of her hire in 2019, Public Relations Supervisor was a newly created position for the city of Springfield. As the city has grown, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen decided to establish the position in conjunction with city management to market and promote the city as well as to improve communication between the government and its citizens.

Additionally, the Public Affairs Coordinator supports economic development efforts and assists commercial and industrial constituents with needs from city government.

Tillman holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Austin Peay State University and a master’s in business administration from Bethel College. She and her husband, Mark, currently live in Robertson County with their four children.

There’s no word from the city on who will fill in as the new Public Relations Supervisor when Tillman steps into her new role as Assistant City Manager on March 15, 2021.
