Strong Storms, Damaging Winds & Hail – Timing: This Afternoon and Evening.

ROBERTSON COUNTY TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) –According to the US National Weather Service Nashville Tennessee, there is the potential for strong to severe storms this afternoon and evening.

The main threat is large hail, damaging wind, and isolated flash flooding. The main time of concern is 5- 11pm. Please stay weather aware, especially if you’re going to be outside today, and have more than one way to receive warnings. This line of thunderstorms approaching from the west has a history of winds close to 70 mph.

1. Have multiple ways to get warnings. This does not mean have multiple apps downloaded on your phone. This means your cell phone AND a properly programmed NOAA Weather Radio. Something that is going to be turned on, turned up and will wake you if you’re sleeping.

2. Review & PRACTICE your family’s safety plan. Don’t have one? Visit Ready.gov. They have great info on what to do PRIOR to going under a warning, including getting to shelter in a timely manner. Do you live in a mobile home? Maybe you sleep in your shelter while under a Watch.

3. Please treat Severe Thunderstorms Warnings in the same fashion you would a Tornado Warning. Winds blowing in a straight line versus those spinning around in a circle at 70 mph or more can do the same kind of damage. JUST TAKE SHELTER.
