ROBERTSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – This will be the first installment of the Daily Brief. The Daily Brief will be news reports covering alerts and other news that Smokey Barn News publishes on Social Media throughout the day but not here on our main website. We have received numerous messages from Smokey readers that are not on social media and therefore miss many alerts. If you are not on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter (X) then this report is for you. Did you hear the boom?
Around 10:30 AM this morning (Friday) Smokey Barn News started receiving reports of people indicating they heard or felt some kind of a boom. We did check with the Emergency Management Agency. They had no official reports of any kind of incident or accident. Maybe we can triangulate on it. If you heard it or felt it, indicate your general location, the time you heard or felt it, and (on a scale from one to 10) how powerful the jolt felt or sounded to you. READ COMMENTS HERE

A military helicopter landed just outside of Springfield on New Cut Road due to mechanical issues Friday afternoon just after 1 pm. No injuries were reported. LANDING SITE

Official statement from the Tennessee National Guard.
“At approximately 1:15 p.m., a Tennessee Army National Guard UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter with Nashville’s 1-230th Assault Helicopter Battalion performed a precautionary landing near Greenbrier, Tennessee. The crew were performing pilot training when they received an indication requiring them to immediately land. The aircraft landed safely with no injuries.”

After some repairs, the helicopter was able to launch and return to base around 4:30 pm..

TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS

Likely due to weather, we had an uptick in traffic accidents today (at last count about 25) as of 8 pm. No life-threatening injuries were reported and no rollovers.

ILLEGAL NARCOTICS SEIZURE

K-9 Deputy Nyla and her handler Deputy Duffey

The Robertson County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit arrested 27-year-old Shamontez Cheatham of Murfreesboro, and 35-year-old Latoyia Grady of Nashville, during a traffic stop on Tom Austin Hwy in Springfield, TN.

The K-9 unit conducted a probable cause search of Cheatham and Grady’s vehicle during the stop. During the search, deputies reportedly located 17.29 grams of suspected Fentanyl, 115 Buprenorphine dosage strips, 3.5 grams of suspected Marijuana, and $1,191.00 cash.

Cheatham was arrested and charged with Possession of a Schedule II Drug for Resale, Possession of a Schedule III Drug for Resale, and Simple Possession of a Schedule VI Drug. Her bond was set at.  $152,500.

Grady was arrested and charged with Possession of a Schedule II Drug for Resale, Possession of a Schedule III Drug for Resale, and Driving on a Revoked Driver’s License. Her bond was set at.  $152,500.

“I am very proud of K-9 Deputy Nyla and her handler Deputy Duffey for getting these extremely dangerous drugs off of our streets,” said Sheriff Michael Van Dyke. “Our Sheriff’s Office team is working diligently to keep our Robertson County community safe,”
