The Reason for Springfield’s Fireworks Ban: Captured on Video

SPRINGFIELD, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Back in the early 2000s, Springfield banned fireworks inside the city limits, but why? This video footage (used on a popular TV series) was extracted from Springfield police dash-cams, and as you can see, the streets of Springfield became a bit of a war zone.

Smokey spoke to a Springfield Police Officer who was working that night. The officer, who wished not to be named, told Smokey Barn News that people were shooting fireworks all over Springfield. Citizens were shooting at people, cars, and as you can see in the video below, the police. “It was one crazy night,” the officer said.

Springfield Police cruisers are equipped with cameras that point in every direction. If you are caught using fireworks inside the city limits, your fireworks will be confiscated, and you will receive a citation.

If you live anywhere near Springfield, the sights and sounds of fireworks were undeniable this evening. Years ago, Springfield enacted a fireworks ban inside city limits due to incidents where fireworks were used aggressively and fired directly at police vehicles, as you can see in the video. However, tonight, fireworks could be seen and heard in every direction.

It’s unlikely that Springfield police have the manpower or the desire to respond to every single display. By the time officers arrive, everyone is usually gone, making it difficult, if not impossible, to prosecute and or enforce. One has to wonder if the fireworks ban is actually making things worse.
