The Tennessee Sheriffs’ Association awarded two scholarships to local students recently.
Peyton Orr and Mason Clark both received the award in the amount of $800.00. Sheriff Bill Holt had the honor of presenting these students with their gift. He met with each recipient and congratulated them on this achievement and wished them success as they continue their educational endeavors. Orr is the daughter of Deputy Meacham Orr. She is currently attending Austin Peay State University. Clark is the son of Sergeant Charles Clark, and will be attending Cumberland University this fall.
The Tennessee Sheriffs’ Association Board of Directors awards the scholarships to selected applicants each year that are dependants of officers. Sheriff Holt is grateful to the Tennessee Sheriffs’ Association for the assistance given to these young students. “The pursuit of higher education is something to be rewarded. I am extremely proud of these two students and their families for the success they have achieved, and I wish them continued success on their journey.”

I wish the city department could do something like this. College is so expensive, and it would’ve been a wise investment in my case as I am studying for a Criminal Justice major!
