MADISON TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – This will be an update to a report we brought you on Tuesday regarding a driver that opened fire at police during a traffic stop in Madison.

According to Metro Nashville Police, Madison Precinct detectives were fired upon while attempting to conduct a traffic stop on a white Chevy Tahoe (pictured) just before 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

The traffic stop was initiated after police allege Detectives suspected the Tahoe was connected to some kind of illegal narcotics activity, at which point the vehicle fled.

The Tahoe was disabled and wrecked in the 3500 block of Dickerson Pike. LOCATION OF SHOOTING As detectives started to approach the Tahoe, according to police Buchanan began shooting at them from the driver’s seat and a flurry of gunfire ensued. Police said Buchanan unloaded an entire magazine from his pistol as he fired at the detectives, which can be heard in police body cam video released to the media.

According to Metro Nashville Police, the alleged gunman/driver, 45-year-old Demond Buchanan was taken into custody at the scene. Dickerson Pike was closed for several hours during the follow-up investigation.

Buchanan, who was wanted on 13 outstanding warrants. Three aggravated assault warrants, in addition to drug-related charges, are anticipated. PHOTOS/VIDEO MNPD
