Students and Faculty at Springfield High School joined a world wide effort to beat the world record for the most people cup stacking in a single day. The old record was 483,658 cup stackers in a single day. This attempt has already passed the half million mark worldwide. UPDATE: An announcement on the World Sport Stacking Association (WSSA) websice indicates that the cup stacking effort was successful.
It’s Official, They Did It…
Last week Springfield High School participated in a global effort to beat the world wide record of the most people “Sport Stacking” at one time. Smokey has now learned that they were in fact successful.
“We’re very excited about it, we’re waiting for our certificates to arrive. It’s always good to be a part of something like that,” Dawn Brading Wellness Instructor S.H.S.
“I’m very pleased to see the students at Springfield High School engaged in a global activity that brings fun and excitement back to teaching and learning,” Mike Davis, Robertson County Director of Schools.
last year’s record of 483,658 was broken at exactly 12:50 pm MST on Sunday, November 17th. Verifications continue to come in, so the final count won’t be determined for a number of days. It’s now assured to be a new world record and all bets are on exceeding the goal of 500,000!
Congratulations and thanks to all who participated in the 2013 STACK UP! More than 2,800 schools and organizations representing 36 countries from around the world registered for this year’s colossal sport stacking event held on Guinness World Records Day, November 14th.
