Wednesday’s Precautionary Lockdown At Greenbrier Middle School…  (STORY UPDATED)

According to police, on Wednesday April 16,  a faculty member of Greenbrier Middle School received a text message from his girlfriend that his brother was on his way to the school to do him “bodily harm.”

The school employee immediately informed the school resource officer. The school administrator decided to put the school on lock down as a precautionary measure, according to acting Greenbrier Police Chief Kevin Richards..

P
olice say the family member (the brother who allegedly made the threats) is a Springfield resident and Springfield police were dispatched to locate him. Police say the situation stemmed from a domestic incident that occurred Tuesday night in Springfield. “He was still upset with his brother over it”, Richards said.

When Springfield police located the brother he admitted to making the threat but said he had “no intentions of going to the school and doing anything.”  Springfield PD then cleared the brother and the Lock-Down was lifted.

According to Richards, the alleged verbal threats were made to other family members in Springfield Wednesday morning. The employee’s girlfriend then sent a text message to the school employee about the threats. The message read to the effect, “Your brother is on his way to harm you” police said. The brother did admit to threatening the employee (his brother) via text but that message said he was “going to get him after work,” the threat was never directed at or near the school, according to Greenbrier police.

The school was on lock down for about an hour while police sorted through all the facts. The all clear was given at 12:30PM
