White House Mayor Facing Year-Old Misdemeanor Marijuana Charge

WHITE HOUSE TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Smokey Barn News has confirmed with Sumner County Sheriff Sonny Weatherford that White House Mayor Michael Arnold is facing a Misdemeanor “simple possession” marijuana citation stemming from an incident that occurred in June of last year.

It’s a bit of a mystery that the citation was not discovered by the media or the general public until now, just weeks before voters are slated to cast their ballots.

We do know that the incident stemmed from an emergency medical call at the Mayor’s home over a year ago at which time the small amount of marijuana was discovered. With public records we know that there was a delay of several months before the charge was made and the Mayor turned himself in, the delay likely caused by an investigation and processing of evidence.

How and if the charge will affect the day-to-day operation of the city will have to play out but it was business, as usual, this evening at the City’s monthly meeting.

Mayor Arnold is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court later this month and he is directing questions to his attorney.

The Mayor of White House since 2010 and up for re-election in November, the question is, with the controversy surrounding the legalization of marijuana, will the charge help or hurt his chances for reelection.
