Widespread Power Outage Affects Robertson County

A widespread power outage has affected the Robertson County area. The outage started around 10:50pm and as you can see from the outage map (ABOVE) it’s affecting a large area.
According to officials, crews with CEMC are attempting to locate the issue but early word is that a main substation has failed.

UPDATE: 11:25PM
As you can see from the latest power grid map below, more people have called in showing the full scope of the outage.
No word yet on an exact cause or how long the power will be out. CEMC crews are working hard to resolve the issue.
UPDATE 11:50pm: The total number of people affect has come down a little from about 14,000 to just over 11,000.
Authorities have indicated that a main feed from Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) may have failed.
UPDATE: 12:20PM
We have some improvement (See outage map below) We are down to about 8,500 customers without power, down from the 14,000 that it was at it’s apex. The Orlinda area has come back on line.
UPDATE: 12:27AM
More progress… At this pace it shouldn’t be long for the rest of you.. As you can see from the map below, Greenbrier and Orlinda are back on line.

It appears that all power has been restored. Total time of outage, 1 hour and 50 minutes. As soon as we have word on the exact cause we will being it to you.
UPDATE March 16: 2:00PM
The simple answer to the cause of the power failure would be that a piece of TVA’s (Tennessee Valley Authority) equipment failed, causing the Springfield substation to go offline.
The technical answer: The official cause of the outage was a failed TVA arrester at the Springfield Primary Substation.

Hillside Dr has power. I heard a large explosion around 10:50, the power went out and came back on again almost immediately.
Adams is still Dark!
