Longtime Springfield Funeral Home Property Headed To Auction
SPRINGFIELD, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A longtime Springfield funeral home property that has served Robertson County families for years is headed to the auction block later this month.
The former Serenity Funeral Home property at 1507 Batts Blvd., near South Main Street, will be offered at public auction Saturday, Sept. 26 at 10 a.m. through Bluegrass Auction Associates. (MAP) The auction will be conducted live on-site with online bidding also available through HiBid.
The 3,083-square-foot building sits on an approximately 98-by-375-foot paved lot and is commercially zoned. According to auction materials, the property includes multiple rooms, office and service areas, ample parking, and existing electric, water, and sewer service.
The property has a lengthy history in Springfield. Longtime funeral director George Woods, who died in 2021, was a former owner of Serenity Funeral Home and served families throughout Robertson County and surrounding communities for many years. His own visitation was held at the Batts Boulevard funeral home following his death. His obituary is available here.
Bluegrass is marketing the property for continued use as a funeral home, professional offices, another business operation or redevelopment. The property will be sold as a single tract to the highest bidder.
The auction terms call for 10% down on the day of the sale, with the balance due at closing. Bluegrass lists auctioneers JK Graves and Gary Payne, with Jenny Chapman of Benchmark Realty serving as the referring agent.
