2 Deputies Injured After Traffic Stop Turns into Countywide Pursuit
ROBERTSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A traffic stop for a possible stolen vehicle at the Dollar General in Ridgetop quickly escalated into a cross-county pursuit resulting in two Robertson County Deputies being injured Saturday afternoon. The suspect led officers through a cross-county chase, which passed through Bailey Street in Ridgetop before ending on I-65.
Smokey Barn News has learned that after leaving the Dollar General in Ridgetop MAP around 4:45 pm, the suspect was cornered on Bailey Street MAP, not realizing it was a dead end. The chase continued to I-65 near mile marker 97 MAP where the suspect was apprehended. At some point during the pursuit, the suspect struck two Robertson County patrol vehicles, resulting in injuries to two deputies who were subsequently transported to TriStar NorthCrest Medical Center in Springfield with non-critical injuries.
According to the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office, 22-year-old Timothy Scott of Clarksville has been charged with aggravated assault on a 1st responder. Deputies are working with the District Attorney’s office on additional charges.
The Robertson County Sheriff’s Office extends their appreciation to the Greenbrier Police Department, the Goodlettsville Police Department, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol for their assistance.
The Robertson County Sheriff’s Office confirms that both deputies, one from each vehicle struck by the suspect, sustained non-critical injuries. They are expected to fully recover.
