PORTLAND, Tenn. –
Two Kentucky men in their 20’s were killed after their vehicle slammed into a tractor trailer early Thursday morning in Portland.
The accident occurred around 2:00AM on Lake Springs Road near the intersection of Highway 31W in Portland.
Both occupants of the car were killed. Their vehicle was destroyed. According to the T.H.P. the two men were from Kentucky.
According to officials, the truck was stopped at the time of the collision. The truck driver was not injured. Lake Springs Road was closed for several hours while the Tennessee Highway Patrol investigated the fatal crash.

UPDATE: T.H.P. releases the names of the victims…
The 2013 Chevrolet 4 door sedan was driven by Conner Edwards 21 of Auburn KY who died in the wreck. Edwards was carrying two passengers, Cody Yell 22 of Adairville KY who also died in the wreck and Alexander Reed 21 of Auburn KY who survived the accident and was transported to the hospital. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the semi was stopped at a stop sign on Lake Springs Road attempting to turn left onto Highway 31. The 2013 Chevrolet (also traveling on Lake Springs Road) was traveling at approximately 80 mph when it ran into the rear of the trailer.
The driver of the semi was Hugh Darnell 42 of Caneyville KY, he was not injured. The accident is under investigation by the T.H.P.
