2:AM Knock At The Door Turns Out To Be Robbery Victim
SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – After being robbed at gunpoint and assaulted Saturday night, a Springfield man was dropped off on Airport Road.
In Saturday night’s frigid temperatures, the victim, who neighbors say was wearing shorts, went house to house knocking on doors and windows, presumably looking for help. A neighbor, Bill Colwell, told Smokey Barn News that he was asleep when he heard someone knocking on his windows.
The incident took place on Airport Rd near Kinney’s School Rd around 2 am. MAP All the noise on the normally quiet road woke up neighbors who called 911. The Robertson County Sheriff’s Office arrived quickly and found the man. After calling for medical assistance for the victim, deputies began a thorough search with flashlights up and down Airport Rd.
According to Robertson County EMS, the man was transported to NorthCrest Medical Center in Springfield with non-critical injuries.
While Robertson County Sheriff’s investigators searched the scene on Airport Rd, Police were also on the other side of Springfield on Corbett Lane. (Distance map) With the assistance of Springfield Police, the primary focus there was a vehicle parked in a driveway, though police would not officially confirm that the vehicle was connected to the robbery.
The Robertson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that they are investigating an armed robbery that took place Saturday night but offered few additional details other than the incident was not random and one suspect has been identified. Once located the suspect will face charges in the robbery.
