CLEVER SCAMM ALERT
SHERIFF:—> Scammers are impersonating Deputies from the Robertson County Sheriff's Office. The scammers are calling and leaving voicemails requesting a call back regarding an urgent legal matter. They are identifying themselves as Lt. Jewell and possibly other employees. When calling back, the victims are advised that the legal issues can be dismissed with over the phone payments, cash, or gift cards. THIS IS A SCAM!

Always remember, the Sheriff's Office does NOT call demanding money. Please share so you and others don't become a victim.

The following message was sent to Smokey Barn News by one of our readers today. Here’s what they experienced.

“I got a call from Robertson County Sheriff’s Office, a lieutenant. He said I have 3 arrest warrants; I needed to remain on hold and be transferred to the captain. Once the captain got on the line, he said I had 3 warrants due to failure to appear for a jury summons. He knew my address and used a real Capt. name with the sheriff’s office. He said that I needed to remain on the line to either be processed for the warrants at the Sherrif’s Dept or be transfer to Liberty Bail Bond. The call lasted almost 11 min. I told him I was going to speak to our sheriff at school. He said I couldn’t hand up. When the SRO came into the clinic, the caller hung up. I have never heard of this scam, but it felt so real and so scary. Lesson is, you will never be arrested with warning, and never talk to anyone that wants to transfer you that has something to do with money.”
