Vehicle Swept Off Road by Floodwater in Robertson County

A vehicle was pulled off the road from floodwaters off Homer Worsham Road near Roy Cole Road today. According to Cross Plains Fire Chief Tommy Jackson, the driver thought the water had receded enough to safely cross, but the vehicle was quickly swept off the road into a ditch.

The driver remained in the car until help arrived. Chief Jackson and another responder used a high-clearance personal truck to reach the vehicle, and the driver was safely transported out.

With several areas in the county still seeing high water, officials urge drivers to avoid flooded roads — no matter how shallow they may seem. As Chief Jackson put it: “Stay out of the water. Don’t try to drive through it.”
