BREAKING: Man Captured After High-Speed Pursuit and Foot Chase in Ridgetop

RIDGETOP TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A high-speed pursuit that began with Goodlettsville Police ended in a crash and foot chase in the city of Ridgetop Friday evening. The suspect, now in custody, was found hiding on O’Bryan Avenue after an hours-long hunt. MAP

According to Greenbrier Police, the pursuit began in the Goodlettsville area and traveled at high speed along Springfield Highway before Goodlettsville PD terminated the pursuit. Minutes later, Greenbrier Police located the vehicle and a brief chase ensued before the suspect, identified as 33-year-old Steven Rucker, crashed his vehicle into a tree on O’Bryan Avenue in Ridgetop.

Following the crash, Rucker fled on foot, leading officers on a pursuit through the surrounding area. Law enforcement deployed canine units and a Metro Nashville Police Department helicopter in the search.

According to Detective Joseph Chelini with the Greenbrier Police Department, authorities later received a tip that Rucker had entered a residence and had not been seen exiting. Officers surrounded the home and entered with a K-9 unit. Inside, they observed a hole in the ceiling where Rucker had nearly fallen through, confirming he was hiding in the attic. As officers closed in, Rucker jumped from a second-story window, landing on an air conditioning unit. He sustained serious injuries from both the crash and the fall. A firearm was recovered from his vehicle, along with marijuana and an unknown white powdery substance.

According to Greenbrier Police Chief Buster Locklear, Rucker has several outstanding warrants. Chief Locklear stated that Rucker was wanted in Texas, Goodlettsville, and by Greenbrier Police in connection with a prior high-speed pursuit.

Chief Locklear extended his sincere thanks to both on-duty and off-duty officers who assisted in locating the suspect, as well as the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office, Goodlettsville Police Department, Metro Nashville Police Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol, the Emergency Management Agency, and Robertson County EMS. He also expressed appreciation for the tremendous support provided by the Robertson County Communication Center.
