ROBERTSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A Robertson County man is now in custody after allegedly making threats of mass violence targeting three Cheatham County schools Monday morning, according to WSMV News 4 in Nashville.

According to a spokesperson for the Cheatham County School District, voicemails containing threats were received by Kingston Springs Elementary, West Cheatham Elementary, and Cheatham Middle School.

The Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office responded immediately, coordinating with the Tennessee Office of Homeland Security to trace the origin of the calls. As a precaution, all schools in the district dismissed students early, and law enforcement conducted thorough sweeps of each affected campus.

The suspect, identified as 46-year-old Kenneth Smith, a Robertson County man who authorities believe may be experiencing mental health issues, was located at a residence in Robertson County and taken into custody.

Smith is facing three counts of making a threat of mass violence to a school.

Law enforcement confirmed that all three campuses were cleared and no active threat was found.
