Isidro Villeda

Isidro Villeda, age 61, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2025, at his home. His wishes are to be cremated, and no services are planned at this time.

Mr. Villeda was born in Honduras on July 15, 1964, to the late Jesus and Isela Pastora Villeda Miranda. He primarily worked in construction cleaning asbestos out of buildings. In his free time, Mr. Villeda maintained an immaculate garden of fruits and vegetables. He was an animal lover and passed that love down to his daughter. He loved his family and was a great father.

Mr. Villeda is survived by his wife of thirty years: Juana Villeda of Springfield, by his son: Bryan Villeda of Colorado Springs, CO, and by his daughters: Brenda Villeda, and Britney Villeda, both of Springfield.

Services have been entrusted to Robertson County Funeral Home

83 Years Old

Jean Drake Henslee, age 83, of Springfield, passed away Friday evening, October 10, 2025, at TriStar NorthCrest Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 11:00 AM at South Haven Baptist Church with Dr. Frank Gagliano officiating. Burial will follow at Springfield Memorial Gardens with Tim Henslee, Andrew Morgan, David Randolph, Frankie Gagliano, James Sawyers, and Drew Steinbrook serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerry Fuqua, and Orville Gilley. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at South Haven Baptist Church and on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until the service at 11:00 AM at the church.

Mrs. Henslee was born on March 1, 1942, in Cedar Hill to the late Felix Ewing and Mary Helon Stroud Drake. She was a member of South Haven Baptist Church and worked as the Secretary there for many years. She was well known for her country cooking, and her coconut cakes were very popular. Mrs. Henslee was a hard worker that served the Lord, and she was a great caregiver for her family and others.

Mrs. Henslee is survived by her husband of 61 years: Nall Henslee of Springfield, by her son: Tim (Lauren) Henslee of Canton, OH, by her daughter: Christie Buttrick of Greenbrier, by her brother: Doug Drake of Cross Plains, and by her grandchildren: Andrew Morgan, Abigail Morgan, Kathryn Henslee, and Aubrey Henslee.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Henslee is preceded in death by her brother: John Ewing Drake, and by her sister: Mary Alice Smith.

Jo Sharon Kelly DurrettJo Sharon Kelly Durrett, age 78 of Cottontown passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born January 27, 1947 in Nashville, TN to James Edward & Dorothy Carmack Jones. She started her career as a beautician and had worked at White House High School, Jones Prescription Shop and Austin and Bell Funeral Home for many years. She enjoyed traveling, especially her girl’s trips to the beach, camping and painting.

Jo Sharon was of the Church of Christ faith. She is preceded in death by her parents, James Edward & Dorothy Carmack Jones; husband of 39 years, Lanny Joe Kelly. She is survived by her husband, Milton “Ernie” Durrett, Cottontown, TN; daughters, Jennifer (Damon) Wilkinson, Bowling Green, KY and Jeanne (Eric) Drake, White House, TN; brother, Ronald Wade (Deborah) Jones, Greenfield, TN; sisters, Vicki Rigsby, White House, TN and Sylvia Youngblood, Franklin, TN; 5 grandchildren, Alyssa, Brooke, Eryn, Ashley and Avery; 5 great-grandchildren, Aryia, Grayson, Kyiah, Madelyn and Lincoln.

Funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at 1pm in the chapel of Austin and Bell Funeral Home in White House with Bro. Joshua Culver and her children officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation is planned or Monday, October 13, 2025 4-8pm and Tuesday, October 14, 2025 10am until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Austin & Bell for Studio 76. Funds will be used for art classes etc. for children.

Kevin was born on January 31, 1968, in Nashville, Tennessee, to father, Everett Steele (Nancy) and mother, Edna Piper (Arthur Taylor). He was a retired Sergeant with the Metro Nashville Police Department with 30 years of service. He loved fishing, his farm & farm animals, and was a collector of many different items. He was a Christian.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 27 years, Stacey Steele; daughter, Caroline Steele (Sam Ayers); brothers, Darryl Steele and Jeff Steele (Lesa); sister, Rhonda Moore (Jimmy); and his in-laws, nieces & nephews, and extended family.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4 o’clock pm, Tuesday, October 14th, at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View with her family officiating.

Burial will follow at EverRest of Cheatham with Tony Ferguson, Christopher English, Jaxon English, Logan Ferguson, and John Adams serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 14th from 3:00PM until the hour of service at 4:00PM.

Ms. Susan was born on June 3, 1955 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late William & Elizabeth Wilson Suratt. She was a homemaker who loved taking care of her children. She loved plants and recently painting statues for the yard. Susan loved her Lord and reading her Bible. She was a member of Clarksville Highway Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Stanley and Steven Suratt.

She is survived by her children, Chris (Heather) Ferguson, Tony (Pamela) Ferguson, Angela (Christopher) English, Dakota Ferguson, Alex Ferguson, and Rebecca Ferguson; grandchildren, Abby, Jaxson, Brooklynne, and Ellie English, Maekayla, Logan, Caroline, Sadie Gray, and Emily Ferguson; sister, Shirley Baskins.

Vernon Ray Costello, Sr.
January 23, 1941 – October 10, 2025

Vernon Ray Costello, Sr.Vernon Ray Costello, Sr, age 84, of Pleasant View, Tennessee, a man whose very presence would light up a room, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, October 10. 2025. He lived his life with boundless energy, and infectious laugh, and a passion for helping others.

A celebration of Vernon’s life will be held at 11 o’clock am, Wednesday, October 15th, at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View with Pastor Brad Shockley and Bro. Jerry Foust officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, beginning at 9:00 AM until the hour of service at 11:00 AM.

Burial will follow in EverRest of Cheatham in Pleasant View with Chris Dungan, Mickey Dyce, Ronnie Anderson, Larry “Chip” Robinson, Brennen Dixon, and Eli Darnell serving as pallbearers.

Born on January 23, 1941, Vernon grew into a man known for his kindness and unwavering Christian spirit. In, his career in purchasing for Robert Orr (Sysco), his employment with State Government, and in his self-employment activities as a handyman, Vernon radiated a distinctive and unusual joy. Vernon Ray Costello can be best described as a hard-working, passionate, joyful man, who loved his Lord, loved his family, and loved living zestfully.

Vernon is a member a member of Pleasant View First Baptist Church and particularly enjoyed singing with enthusiasm the traditional hymns he learned as a youngster growing up in West Nashville.

Vernon is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Linda Costello; children, Jennifer Hardy (Paul), Vernon Ray Costello, Jr. (Donna and their children), stepdaughter, Anna Blythe Wyatt, stepson, Oscar Dewayne Blythe (Karen); grandchildren, Justin Blythe, Jarrett Blythe, Harrison Blythe, Emma Grace Blythe, Baylor Blythe; brother, David Costello (Sally); sisters, Mildred Klingbyll (James), Patricia Hall (Gary, now deceased), and Donna Copas (Mark). Vernon is now with his other daughter, Susan Hosaflook, who is deceased.

A favorite Bible passage from Revelation 14:13 states: “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord. Yes, says the Spirit, they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.”

Vernon’s good deeds are well known and will continue to live in the minds and hearts of many who were privileged to know him.

Alma Birdwell Williams Owen

Alma Birdwell Williams OwenAlma Birdwell Williams Owen, age 97 of Goodlettsville passed away Saturday, October 11, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Owen was born June 17, 1928 in Simpson County, Kentucky to the late Delwin E. Birdwell and Lucille “Dixie” Prince Birdwell. She was born the second child in a family of thirteen siblings. She retired from the State of Tennessee as a security clerk for Employment Security in 1990. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church and the Order of Eastern Star. Mrs. Owen was the true matriarch of her family, loved to sew, quilt, and crochet. She could make anything. After the death of her husband, she raised her 11 year old son and the two of them ran a 100 acre cattle farm by themselves. She was even a seamstress at Opryland and made many of the costumes that was seen in the shows around the park.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Owen was preceded in death by her husbands, R. Gordon Williams and R. C. Owen. Brothers, JD Birdwell, Jewel Birdwell, Grant Birdwell, Paul Birdwell, Wayne Birdwell, and Bobby Birdwell.

She is survived by her son, Joe (Christy) Williams; 3 grandsons, Brad (Tiffany) Williams, Curtis (Joy) Williams, and Jason (Katie) Williams. 7 great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Jordan, Aiden, Jeremiah, Kinley, Kooper, and River. Brothers, David (Kay) Birdwell and Leonard Birdwell. Sisters, Ruth Ricks, Helen Baggett, Marie Haley, and Lucille (Troy) Bell.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1PM Thursday, October 16th in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House with Joe Williams and Bro. H D Jones officiating. Burial will be followed in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Joe Williams, Brad Williams, Curtis Williams, Jason Williams, Jordan Williams, Aiden Williams, Jeremiah Williams, and Daren Palmer.

Family will receive friends from 3PM to 8PM on Wednesday, October 15th and again at 10AM until the time of service at 1PM at the funeral home.

He was a Plumber and worked for Lamberth & Sons Plumbing. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and playing softball in his younger years.

Norma Holman MoonNorma Holman Moon, age 89, of Springfield, passed away Sunday, June 27, 2025 at her home after a short illness. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be conducted at 1:30pm Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Oakland Baptist Church with Spencer Holman officiating.

The family will receive friends from 12:00pm until time of the service at 1:30pm at the church.

Mrs. Moon was born June 9, 1936, in Robertson County to the late W.L. Holman and the late Velma Krisle Holman. She had an adventurous life living in or traveling to every state in the U.S. while she and her husband, Sory, worked for various pipeline companies. Mrs. Moon also worked for Bell South and GMAC in her years just after business school. She loved crosswords, playing bridge, and her pets and family. Mrs. Moon was a member of Oakland Baptist Church and Eastern Star. She was a genuinely kind and selfless person loved by many, and will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Moon was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, William Sory Moon; brothers, Billy Gene (Jeanette) Holman and Robert D. Holman (Buddy); and a sister, Linda (Jerry) Jones.

She is survived by her daughter, Terri Watts; granddaughter, Jada Watts Dixon; great granddaughter, Stella Dixon; sisters-in-law, Gail McClanahan Holman, Lucy (Theron) Hicks, and Judy Henderson; many cherished nieces and nephews; and her cat, Keke.
