Chowning Road Fire Draws Large Emergency Response
SPRINGFIELD, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Multiple fire agencies are on the scene of a confirmed structure fire in the 7400 block of Chowning Road in Springfield, Friday. MAP All occupants made it out safely, according to early reports, and no injuries have been reported; the first call coming onto 911 around 11:40 AM.
The Tennessee Division of Forestry has been called in to help prevent the fire from spreading into a nearby wood line. Crews from Cross Plains, Orlinda, and White House Community Volunteer Fire Departments are currently on scene working to contain the blaze.
Chowning Road is currently clogged with fire and emergency apparatus, and crews may be shuttling water, which could cause additional delays. If you are traveling in the area, expect traffic backups and use caution around first responders operating in the roadway.
The fire has offered some complexities to the operation, with multiple structures and vehicles vulnerable.
According to the family, several cats were lost in the fire. One dwelling was also destroyed, and the primary home sustained heavy damage to its façade. If the family decides to reach out to the community for support, we will bring it to you.
