DUI-Related Traffic Incidents Spike In Robertson County
ROBERTSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE: Smokey Barn News) – We are seeing a spike in DUI-related traffic incidents and crashes across Robertson County today. So far, none have been fatal, but the next two days will bring family fun and parties. Don’t let your friends drive drunk. Take the keys.
The holidays are a time when people gather, celebrate, and sometimes have a drink. If you have been drinking, do not get behind the wheel. If you see someone even thinking about driving after drinking, take their keys. Call them a ride. Do whatever it takes to keep them off the road.
Most of our rural roads move at 45 to 50 miles per hour. A head-on crash at those speeds is essentially a 100-mile-per-hour impact. That is not a risk worth taking for you or for the people coming toward you.
If none of that worked, consider this: If you do crash or are arrested for DUI, there is a strong chance one of our reporters will be on scene. That is not the way you want to meet Smokey Barn News, and it is an embarrassment that lasts far longer than a night out. Please make the smart choice, don’t drink and drive. Let’s get everyone through the holidays safely.
If none of that worked, consider this: there will be extra law enforcement on the roads tonight and throughout the holidays. Officers are actively looking for impaired drivers, and those caught driving under the influence will go to jail.
