Animal Bone Triggers Brief Police Investigation at Springfield Creek
SPRINGFIELD, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Authorities in Springfield were once again called back to the creek near Garner Street Park today after another child discovered bones in the water.
According to officials with the city of Springfield, anthropology and the medical examiner have confirmed these bones are not human – they are animal remains.
Springfield is a rural area, so animal bones in the creek are fairly common. The same location was thoroughly searched by law enforcement twice last year and again today, so though more human remains could be found there, the odds are fairly low at this point.
If you see bones in the area, it’s your call whether to report them. Most will simply be from wildlife, as was the case today.
