Firefighters Make Good Stop After Portland Area Home Ignited Sunday Night
PORTLAND, TENNESSEE (SMOKEY BARN NEWS): A Portland area home sustained fire, smoke, and water damage Sunday night, but thanks to the quick response and aggressive efforts of local firefighters, the majority of the home was saved. Multiple fire departments responded to the residence on W. Roberts Road, the first call coming into 911 at 9:18 p.m.
The Highland Volunteer Fire Department (H.V.F.D.) was dispatched to the home with the Portland Fire Department, the Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department, the Gallatin Volunteer Fire Department, the Cottontown Volunteer Fire Department, and the White House Community Volunteer Fire Department all assisting.
H.V.F.D. and Portland Fire personnel arrived within minutes and discovered a working house fire.
Crews reportedly made an aggressive attack on the blaze, and the fire was brought under control in approximately 30 minutes.
Officials said it appeared the fire began on the porch before spreading to the second story and attic area of the home.
According to responders, the majority of the residence was saved but did sustain smoke, heat, and water damage.
Sumner EMS and the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.
