Driver Escapes Obliteration In I-65 Crash Near White House

WHITE HOUSE, TENNESSEE (SMOKEY BARN NEWS): Obliteration is the only way to describe a crash that occurred on I65 Thursday morning. The driver is lucky to be alive after their Airstream-style van/RV collided with a flatbed tractor-trailer near White House.

The crash occurred on I-65 southbound at mile marker 108, the first call coming into 911 at 8:15 a.m.

According to officials with the White House City Fire Department, the van rear-ended a flatbed tractor-trailer hauling large pipes. The impact was so severe that the front portion of the van appeared to explode on impact, leaving debris scattered across the interstate.

Miraculously, the van driver escaped without injuries, officials told Smokey Barn News.

The driver of the flatbed tractor-trailer was also uninjured, and the truck itself appeared to sustain little if any significant damage.

Traffic was shut down for a period before reopening to one lane as crews worked the scene. A large wrecker was eventually called in to remove the heavily damaged van from the interstate.

Officials at the scene told Smokey Barn News that it was truly a miracle that everyone walked away from this crash. The cockpit area of the van somehow remained partially intact, likely saving the driver’s life. Drake’s Towing was called to the scene.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is leading the investigation into the crash.

This was one of two unusual crashes in Robertson County on Thursday. Around 1 p.m. on 5th Ave. at Bill Jones Industrial Parkway, an overturned vehicle blocked 5th Ave. for several hours while crews cleaned up the scene. See video below.
