ORLINDA, TENNESSEE (Smokey Barn News) – The City of Orlinda announced Wednesday that (after five years with the agency) Acting Fire Chief/Captain Patrick Darrow has stepped down from the Orlinda Fire Department. In the interim, city officials have appointed Lieutenant Corey Chase as the department’s Operational Point of Contact during the transition and say the position will be posted on the city’s website soon.

Darrow joined the Orlinda Fire Department in February of 2021 and moved into the position of Acting Fire Chief/Captain in August of 2023. Darrow told Smokey Barn News that he plans on moving on to other opportunities.

Statement from Patrick Darrow:

“I want to express my sincere gratitude to the City of Orlinda for the opportunity to serve its citizens. It has been a privilege to work alongside dedicated public servants who genuinely care about the safety and well-being of our community. The support I have received from the residents of Orlinda throughout my time with the department is something I will always appreciate and never forget.

“To the men and women of the Orlinda Fire Department, thank you. Your commitment, professionalism, and willingness to answer the call—no matter the hour or circumstance—are a testament to what the fire service represents. I am proud of what we accomplished together, and I have complete confidence that this department will continue to serve the community with honor and integrity.

“While my time with the department has come to an end, my respect for the City of Orlinda, its citizens, and the firefighters who continue to protect it remains unchanged. I leave with gratitude for the memories, friendships, and experiences that have shaped both my career and my life.

“It has been an honor to serve. I wish the City of Orlinda Fire Department, its leadership, and every member of the department continued success and safety in the years ahead. Thank you, Orlinda, for allowing me the privilege of serving this incredible community.”

“Wednesday afternoon, Patrick Darrow resigned from his position as Acting Chief/Captain of the Orlinda Fire Department. We thank him for his service to our community.
