Sheriff Van Dyke Sworn In as TSA President, Receives Lion Award

ROBERTSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Robertson County Sheriff Michael Van Dyke received multiple honors this month during the Tennessee Sheriffs’ Association’s 2026 Annual Conference, including being sworn in as president of the statewide organization.

Van Dyke was also presented with the association’s prestigious Lion Award, recognizing his leadership while serving as interim executive director of the Tennessee Sheriffs’ Association during a period of transition, restructuring and organizational change.

“The Lion Award symbolizes courage, strength, wisdom, integrity, and selfless leadership; qualities that Sheriff Van Dyke demonstrated through steadfast service, quiet sacrifice, and an unwavering commitment to the Sheriffs and citizens of Tennessee,” TSA Executive Director Keith Lowery said.

Lowery added that Van Dyke’s leadership “inspired confidence, restored stability, and positioned the Tennessee Sheriffs’ Association for a future built upon sound governance, fiscal responsibility, transparency, and organizational excellence.”

Van Dyke was additionally presented with a resolution recognizing his distinguished service and granting him an honorary distinction consistent with Sheriff Emeritus-level recognition. According to the association, the recognition reflects Van Dyke’s steady and decisive leadership, his efforts to ensure continuity of operations and his role in restoring organizational stability during a critical period.

Van Dyke now assumes the presidency of the Tennessee Sheriffs’ Association, representing sheriffs across the state.
