The crash occurred at a gas station on Highway 41A and Maxey Road. Pleasant View firefighters were initially dispatched to a vehicle crash, but while crews were responding, they were advised that a Lamborghini involved in the crash was on fire. According to Nelms, the Lamborghini came off the roadway, struck a car and a truck, and then crashed into the gas pumps, knocking one of the pumps over. The Lamborghini then caught fire.
The driver was reportedly unconscious following the crash. Bystanders pulled him from the burning vehicle before firefighters arrived. Nelms said the driver later regained consciousness and refused medical transport.
Our news partner WKRN News 2 is reporting that the driver may have crashed due to a medical emergency.
The driver was identified by fire officials as an Austin Peay State University college student, and the Lamborghini was reportedly a rental being used in connection with homecoming, but Smokey Barn News has not been independently able to confirm these facts.
When Pleasant View’s Squad 1 arrived, firefighters found the Lamborghini heavily involved in fire. Heat from the blaze was melting portions of the gas pumps and the overhead canopy.
Firefighters immediately activated the emergency shutoff for the fuel pumps. Nelms said gasoline from the pumps did not become involved in the fire.
The Lamborghini was completely destroyed. Nelms said so little of the vehicle remained after the fire that it was difficult to identify it as a Lamborghini.
Three vehicles were involved in the crash: the Lamborghini, a passenger vehicle and a truck.
Responding agencies included the Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office, Pleasant View Police Department and Cheatham County EMS. Nelms said Homeland Security personnel were also on scene, but they may have already been there or nearby.
