Accident On I-24 E Takes One Life Friday

One lane of I-24 was closed this afternoon due to a fatal accident that occurred around mile marker 23 in Robertson County. This accident involved one vehicle with only one occupant, the driver, 18 year old Melissa Jusino of Clarksville.

It is unknown what caused the accident but the Tennessee Highway Patrol is currently investigating. Investigators estimate Melissa’s speed to be about 70 MPH so speed was not a factor. Police are also saying they don’t believe drugs or alcohol were a factor either.  A blood test was requested but that is standard procedure in a fatal crash.

What we do know is that  the 2007 Honda Civic Jusino was driving left the roadway and impacted a bridge support at the Jack Teasley overpass on I24. (Location Of Wreck) After leaving the roadway the driver drifted left of the guardrail traveling about 60 to 70 feet before impacting the bridge support.

Smokey’s thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the person that lost their life.
