Adams Officially Announces New Leadership After Mayor’s Passing
After the sudden passing of Mayor Omer Gene Brooksher on Thanksgiving day the city of Adams was left with some decisions to make, who will fill the vacant positions.
After their regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday, Vice Mayor Mary Mantooth was officially recognized as Omer Gene’s replacement as the new Mayor of Adams.
Newly-elected Wayne Evans will will move into Mary Mantooth’s position and become the new Vice Mayor of Adams.
Outgoing commissioner Mike Harbert was appointed to fill the third Commissioner position until the next city election which will be held in November of 2016.
City Recorder, Joi Garrett, told Smokey Thursday afternoon that they are all trying to settle into their new roles and responsibilities. “Everyone knows their job now but it’s going to be different”
