After 25 Years in Public Safety, EMA Director Holmes Takes Private Sector Role

ROBERTSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE (Smokey Barn News) – After more than 25 years in public safety, including leadership of the Robertson County Emergency Management Agency (EMA), Chance Holmes has announced his retirement. Holmes, who has served as EMA Director since 2021, will be transitioning into the private sector.“After twenty-five years in public safety, I would like to announce my retirement,” said Holmes. “I want to thank the City of Springfield for seventeen wonderful years as a firefighter under their leadership, and the Robertson County government for eight years as Director of the Robertson County Emergency Management Agency. I’m thankful to Howard Bradley for hiring me and giving me the opportunity to serve. It’s been a pleasure working under Mayor Billy Vogle and the Robertson County Commissioners.

I’ve decided to retire from public safety and transition into the private sector. I’ll be joining Ozone Environmental Services as their Regional Emergency Response Manager, focusing on hazardous materials response across Middle Tennessee.”

Holmes was officially named EMA Director in 2021 following the retirement of long-time Director R.L. Douglas. At the time, Holmes had already been serving as Deputy Director and brought with him a 17-year career in fire service with the City of Springfield.

Mayor Billy Vogle praised Holmes’ leadership and dedication when he accepted the role: “He is always educating himself and others on what will make our county and residents safer. I’m confident Chance will use his many years of knowledge and experience to lead the department into the future.”

In his own words upon taking the post, Holmes said, “I look forward to serving the citizens of Robertson County and working with all the departments and jurisdictions within the county as well as growing the department to new heights.”

Robertson County EMA Deputy Director Blake Pierce will serve as the interim Director as the county considers a permanent appointment.
