Apartment Fire Displaces Multiple Tenants in Springfield
SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE (Smokey Barn News) – A structure fire broke out at the Cumberland Square Apartments, building (F), formerly known as Southfield Apartments, in Springfield Thursday night, the first call came in at 6:28 p.m.
The Springfield Fire Department responded alongside the Robertson County Emergency Management Agency, Springfield Police, and Robertson County EMS. There was one report of minor smoke inhalation, but no serious injuries were reported. All of the residents made it out safely and no one was transported from the scene. Springfield Fire brought their ladder truck to the scene, along with two other engines.
Multiple apartment units in one building sustained fire, smoke, or water damage. The fire appears to have started in a lower unit, spread to an upper unit, and then made its way into the attic before spreading further. Springfield Fire worked quickly to bring the fire under control within minutes, preventing further damage.
Crews are still on the scene, so the cause of the fire has not yet been determined. It will likely be several hours before fire crews clear the area. As soon as we have more information, we will bring it to you. Numerous individual apartments (we’re told eight) have been affected, and the American Red Cross has been called in. Should any tenants reach out with specific needs, we will share those updates as well.
