Arctic Cold Brings Frigid Nights to Robertson County
SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE (SMOKEY BARN NEWS) — A cold weather pattern will continue across Springfield and Robertson County tonight and into tomorrow, bringing chilly temperatures and mostly clear skies as winter conditions settle in.
Tonight: Expect mostly cloudy to partly cloudy skies with temperatures dropping into the low teens, near 13°F. Winds from the north-northwest will keep it brisk, making it feel colder than the thermometer reads.
SUNDAY: Sunday will be very cold and mainly sunny, with a high near 22°F. Temperatures overnight Sunday will again drop sharply, with lows around 9°F under clear skies.
North winds of 10 to 20 mph may create wind chills well below actual air temperatures. Residents should dress warmly if they plan to be outdoors and watch for icy conditions on untreated surfaces.
When temperatures plunge, residents should take steps to protect themselves and their property. Keep extra blankets, warm clothing, and non-perishable food on hand. Protect pipes by letting faucets drip slightly and keeping cabinet doors open to allow heat to circulate. Avoid leaving cars running unattended, and ensure vehicles have a full tank of gas in case of emergencies. Check on elderly neighbors or those with limited mobility, and limit outdoor exposure to prevent frostbite or hypothermia. Pets should be brought indoors or provided with adequate shelter and warmth.
Looking ahead, the extended forecast shows seasonal fluctuations later in the week, with highs climbing back into the mid-40s to low 50s and a chance of showers later next week.
