Bank Robbery In Springfield Ends With Quick Arrest Friday

SPRINGFIELD, TENNESSEE (SMOKEY BARN NEWS): Police wasted no time apprehending a suspect following a bank robbery in Springfield Friday morning. A suspect was taken into custody a short time later.

According to the Springfield Police Department, officers were called to a robbery at Regions Bank, located at 3572 Tom Austin Highway Friday morning, the first call coming into 911 at 9:15 a.m.. MAP

Police said officers were able to quickly identify a suspect using the description provided during the investigation.

The suspect was identified by police as 46-year-old Trevelle Moneith Demumbrum. Authorities say Demumbrum was taken into custody and charged with robbery.

According to the release, evidence recovered during the investigation allegedly links Demumbrum to the robbery. No injuries were reported. Police have also not disslosed if a weapon was used.

Police said no additional suspects are believed to be involved, and there is no known threat to the public.

As in all cases, the charge against the suspect is merely an accusation, and the suspect is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
