Car Crashes Into Springfield Home With Family Inside
SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE (Smokey Barn News) A family in Springfield was watching TV when they heard what sounded like an explosion in the kitchen. What they found was that a Chevy Malibu had crashed into their home.
The accident occurred just before 10:00 p.m. Sunday on South Main St.
According to neighbor Ira Mercer, who just happened to be on his porch and witnessed the accident, the driver was heading South on Main St when he attempted to make a turn. “He came flying around the corner, (probably 30 or 40 miles an hour at least) and hit the embankment.” Mercer said after hitting the ditch the driver over-corrected and skidded across the road and into the home.
The impact was hard enough to move the refrigerator and stove and break dishes inside the home but no one was in the kitchen when the crash occurred so thankfully no one in the home was injured. The driver of the vehicle was also lucky and sustained only minor injuries.
The driver was taken into custody under suspicion of DUI but police conceded that the driver was knocked unconscious in the accident and may have just been stunned.
The family said they were watching “Fear of the Walking Dead” when the accident occurred. “The show was just ending and bang!,” one of the boys of the home said.
