Coopertown Officer Injured During Halloween Traffic Incident; Driver Faces Felony Charges

COOPERTOWN, TENNESSEE (Smokey Barn News) – A Coopertown man faces multiple felony charges after police say a vehicle driven by Antonio Javon Miller struck an officer during an attempted traffic stop in the Oak Pointe subdivision on Halloween night.

According to Coopertown Police, officers were directing Halloween traffic at Oak Pointe Drive and Kacie Drive around 6:10 p.m. Saturday, October 31, 2026, when officers observed a blue Dodge Challenger driving recklessly in congested traffic. Police identified the driver as Antonio Javon Miller of Coopertown.

Police said Miller sped into the neighborhood when officers attempted to speak with Miller. The route brought Miller back to the same intersection, where officers again reported reckless driving and gave repeated commands for Miller to stop.

During the attempt to stop Miller, police said Miller’s vehicle struck a Coopertown officer who was on foot. Officers ordered Miller at gunpoint to stop. According to police, Miller fled toward Highway 49 W after a vehicle ahead of Miller moved out of the way.

Officers pursued the Challenger, which returned to the neighborhood. The pursuit ended at the dead end of Joey Court in the Oak Pointe subdivision, where officers apprehended Miller.

The officer sustained minor injuries and was evaluated at the scene by Robertson County EMS. The officer was later seen at NorthCrest ER and released.

Miller was charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, evading arrest, resisting arrest, four counts of reckless endangerment, driving under the influence of an intoxicant, implied consent, reckless driving, speeding, accident with personal injury, drivers to exercise due care, and three counts of obedience to a traffic control device.

Miller’s bond was set at $185,000 at the Robertson County Detention Center. Miller is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
