Cory Stokes, 18, Of Cross Plains Dies In Tragic Rollover
CROSS PLAINS TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Around 5:30pm Saturday afternoon Cory Stokes, 18, Of Cross Plains died in an automobile accident on Cedar Grove Rd near the I-65 overpass.
According to the THP, Stokes left the roadway and in his attempt to navigate back onto the road he over corrected and lost control of his vehicle.
Stokes’ vehicle overturned several times and according to the THP he was ejected from the vehicle through the sunroof. His vehicle then rolled over him. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Cory was not wearing his safety belt. The THP crash investigator said in his report that he believes that if Cory had been wearing his safety belt it could have saved his life.
Cory had just graduated from East Robertson High School back in 2014.
Smokey Barn News did receive your many emails, calls and text messages inquiring about this accident Saturday evening. We felt it was in the best interest of the family due to the tragic nature of the accident to delay the story which was not released until after midnight the next morning.
Funeral services for Cory will be held Wednesday, May 27, at 2:00pm in the White House Chapel of Austin and Bell. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Goodlettsville, TN. SOURCE: Cory Stokes online obituary.

We were waiting all day wondering why the story came out so late, it’s just up the road from us. Now we see it was for the family. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you guys delay a story that long before. If the TV networks had known they would have ran it live. If someone had to break this story I’m just glad it was Smokey..
