SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE (Smokey Barn News) – In an era where bookstores are vanishing due to the rise of digital media, one local shop continues to thrive. CrossRoads Christian Bookstore, located on the Historic Downtown Springfield Square, is celebrating 30 years in business this Saturday, March 8, 2025.

The decline of traditional bookstores has been well-documented. Online retailers and e-books have reshaped the industry, forcing many independent shops to close their doors. Christian bookstores, in particular, have faced unique challenges as the shift to digital has changed the way people access faith-based literature and resources. Yet, CrossRoads Christian Bookstore has remained a steadfast presence in Springfield, offering more than just books—it provides a space for community, faith, and learning.Book Store2

For three decades, CrossRoads has served as a hub for those seeking Christian literature, Bibles, gifts, music, and church supplies. The store also boasts an extensive used homeschool collection, providing essential educational materials for families who choose alternative learning paths. Unlike online shopping, visiting CrossRoads offers a hands-on experience where customers can flip through books, seek personalized recommendations, and find unique items that may not be readily available elsewhere.

A Look Back at CrossRoads’ Legacy

CrossRoads Christian Bookstore was founded in 1995 by Keith and Tish Woodall of Springfield. In 2012, after 17 years of dedicated service, they passed the torch to Steve and Nancy Speck, who had long been connected to the store. Nancy had worked at CrossRoads for six years before she and her husband felt led to take over the business, viewing it as both an opportunity and a ministry.

Smokey Barn News was there for the transition in 2012 (VIDEO BELOW) where the Specks shared their passion for continuing the bookstore’s legacy. Now, over a decade later, they are celebrating a milestone that few bookstores today reach—a 30th anniversary.

Anniversary Celebration Details

To mark the occasion, CrossRoads Christian Bookstore is inviting the community to a special celebration on Saturday, March 8, from 10 AM to 3 PM at 600 S Main Street, Springfield.

Attendees can enjoy:

  • Special discounts throughout the day
