Darden Copeland Sets Up ‘Fed Up Town Hall Tour’ In Bid For Congress

ROBERTSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE (Smokey Barn News): Darden Copeland has announced a series of 19 town halls across all 14 counties of Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District as part of his campaign for Congress, including Robertson County. Copeland is running in the upcoming special election to replace Rep. Mark Green.

“Darden Copeland’s Campaign for Congress will be hosting town halls in each of the 14 counties of Congressional District 7 as part of the campaign’s “Fed Up Town Hall Tour”.

“My campaign is going to every county to listen to the voters and hear what matters to them”, Copeland said. Copeland is running in the upcoming special election to replace Rep. Mark Green in Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District.

The “Fed Up Town Hall Tour” will kick off on September 4th with a virtual town hall, followed by the first in-person stop in Robertson County. Additional stops will be made in all thirteen other counties in the district. The town halls will be open to the public and provide an opportunity for residents to ask questions, voice concerns, and learn more about Copeland’s priorities. The campaign will provide food at the in-person town halls in respective communities.

“I’ve had enough of Republicans who won’t stand up to Trump and Democrats who won’t stand up for anything.”, Copeland said. “Politicians are more interested in fighting each other than fighting for their constituents. This district has been taken for granted by politicians more interested in scoring points than solving problems,” Darden said. “Tennessee’s working families are being squeezed by rising costs, stagnant job prospects and health care that is out of reach.  Most of us are just one serious health crisis away from financial disaster. I’m running to change that.”

“Copeland’s “Fed Up Town Hall Tour” is taking place during a time when too many members of Congress are avoiding town halls. “The last thing they want is to hear from voters. I want to serve the people of Middle Tennessee. So, the first thing I am going to do is go into each of the counties of Congressional District 7 and listen to what the people have to say,” Copeland added.

Key issues expected to be discussed during the tour include:

  • Lowering the cost of living and utility bills for working families

  • Strengthening rural economies and protecting family farms

  • Expanding access to affordable healthcare

  • Investing in infrastructure and education

  • Restoring transparency, accountability, and trust in government

At age 47, the campaign is Copeland’s first run for political office. “I’ve never been elected to anything except Elder at my church,” he said. “I’m not running to raise my profile, I’m running to raise the bar for our representatives.” Darden believes voters are tired of career candidates who put self-preservation before the lives of their constituents.

About Darden Copeland

Darden Copeland spent his early career working to elect common-sense Democrats across the country, leaders like Beyer, Gephardt, Kennedy, Gore, Lieberman, Kaine, Warner, Kerry, Edwards, Salazar, among others. Stepping away from electoral politics in 2005, Darden began his career in public affairs and entrepreneurship, where he built the nationally recognized public affairs firm, Calvert Street Group.

Darden has achieved results for clients and communities across North America –winning approvals to build solar farms, affordable housing, rural hospitals, memory care and recovery facilities, grocery stores, critical infrastructure projects, and dedicated funding for mass transit, among other projects. He knows how to win in both Republican and Democratic districts and that is one of the reasons why he is the Democrat most capable of winning the upcoming special election.

Darden lives in Nashville with his wife Natalie, two children, and their rescue dog, Kathy.
