Deadly Weekend Crash Claims Springfield Man
SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A deadly Hwy 49 crash over the weekend has claimed the life of a Springfield man.
According to local officials, the crash occurred on Hwy 49 at Fisher Rd around 1:30 AM Saturday. LOCATION OF CRASH
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the driver, Benjamin Henry Lewis, 39, of Springfield, driving a 2018 GMC Sierra, died in the crash. Officials report that Lewis was an unrestrained driver.
According to the THP’a preliminary description of the crash, Lewis was traveling West on Highway 49 when he failed to negotiate a righthand curve and ran off the roadway. The vehicle then entered an embankment ditch and struck several trees. Lewis was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Hwy 49 was closed for about three hours while the Tennessee Highway Patrol investigated the crash and the scene was cleared by First responders.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol, Robertson County EMS, the Robertson County Emergency Management Agency, and the Orlinda Fire Department all responded to the scene.
