DEED FRAUD ALERT! Robertson County Property Owners Alerted to Deed Scam
ROBERTSON COUNTY TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) –Robertson County officials are warning property owners about a deceptive letter circulating in the community. The letter, which appears to be official government correspondence, offers property deeds for $89 and includes details like appraised values and parcel numbers to appear legitimate. Authorities are urging residents not to fall for the scam, as deed copies are available free of charge from the Register of Deeds Office in Springfield.
“Several property owners have contacted the Assessor’s and Register’s Offices this week after receiving an official-looking letter offering a copy of the property owners deed for $89.00. This letter has a government-looking seal at the top along with the map and parcel number, appraised value, property ownership and property address-all things associated with authentic government correspondence. The return address is in St. Petersburg FL.”
