Driver Arrested After Rollover Crash In Springfield

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – After surviving a rollover crash without injury, the driver of a passenger vehicle was taken into custody by Springfield Police early Sunday.

The crash occurred just before 3:30 am Sunday morning on East Hillcrest Dr near North Hillcrest Dr. MAP

A neighbor told Smokey Barn News that he heard a loud crash followed by a screaming woman. He ran outside to find an upside-down car on the street.  The vehicle had struck a brick mailbox causing it to roll over onto its roof.

The vehicle was smoking and the driver was trapped. The Good Samaritan first called 911 then freed the woman by pulling the door open enough for the driver to squeeze out.

When police arrived the driver was given a field sobriety test and then taken into custody.

No injuries were reported in the crash.

Springfield Police, the Springfield Fire Department, Robertson County EMS, and Drake’s Towing all responded to the call.
