Driver Charged After Confessing to Lewd Act on Hwy 41
GREENBRIER, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A 39-year-old Greenbrier man is facing charges after allegedly masturbating while driving along Highway 41 in view of another motorist.
According to Greenbrier Police, Bradley Gay, 39, of Greenbrier, has been charged with public indecency following an incident reported on March 4, 2026.
Police say a motorist contacted authorities after observing a driver in another vehicle engaging in lewd behavior while both vehicles were traveling along Highway 41 inside the Greenbrier city limits. The witness told police the driver appeared to deliberately position himself so the behavior could be clearly seen.
According to investigators, the witness was able to safely obtain the vehicle’s license plate number and provide it to law enforcement, allowing officers to identify the registered owner of the vehicle.
Detectives with the Greenbrier Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division later made contact with Gay, who voluntarily came to the Greenbrier Police Department to speak with investigators.
During the interview, police say Gay admitted to what happened.
“During the course of the investigation, the individual admitted to investigators that he had been masturbating and viewing pornography while driving at the time of the incident,” Detective Joseph Chelini told Smokey Barn News.
Authorities told Smokey Barn News the investigation began after the victim allegedly reported that the driver appeared to make deliberate efforts to ensure the behavior was visible to passing motorists.
According to Chelini, Gay has been charged with Public Indecency.
The investigation remains ongoing.
