Driver Critical After I24 Crash Thursday Morning

PLEASANT VIEW, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – The driver of a passenger car is in critical condition following a crash with a tractor-trailer on I24 Thursday morning.

The crash occurred at mile marker 22.8, the first call coming into 911 at 6:07 am.  LOCATION OF CRASH  Upon arrival, one adult male from the passenger vehicle was found in critical condition. He required advanced life support procedures on scene and was transported emergency to Skyline Medical Center in critical condition, according to Robertson Couty EMS. The driver of the semi was also transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

Robertson County EMS responded with the Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department, the THP and the Cross Plains Police Department. Chosen Towing & Recovery was called in to clear the scene and remove the vehicle.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is leading the investigation, as soon as they are prepared to release their findings we will bring it to you. We are also working to get an update on the driver of the passenger car.

UPDATE: The THP is now releasing more information on the crash. According to their preliminary report, a 2006 Hyundai Accent and a 2019 Peterbilt tractor-trailer were traveling east on Interstate 24 in the left lane near mile marker 22 when traffic began to slow. The Hyundai then swerved to avoid rear-ending another vehicle and turned right across the right lane and came to a stop. The tractor-trailer then collided with the passenger side of the Hyundai.

The report added that both drivers were properly restrained. An update on the condition of both drivers was not available.
