Driver Strikes Patrol Car During Traffic Stop on Memorial Boulevard In Springfield
SPRINGFIELD, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A local man is facing multiple charges following a traffic stop in Springfield Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. when deputies with the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop. During the stop, the driver of the vehicle, 49-year-old Ray Johnson, allegedly put his car in reverse and struck the patrol car. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the incident.
Johnson was taken into custody and faces charges that include resisting arrest, three counts of assault against a first responder, felony evading arrest, manufacturing, delivery, sale, and possession of Schedule I drugs, two counts of manufacturing, delivery, sale, and possession of Schedule II drugs, and simple possession/casual exchange. He has been booked into the Robertson County Detention Facility in Springfield. A bond amount for Johnson has not been set.
