Rollover Accident In Springfield Early New Years Dayhttp://youtu.be/v_4BdhCKzaU
Around 12:30AM New Year’s day a vehicle heading South on Tom Austin Hwy near W. County Farm Rd in Springfield left the roadway, flipped over the guardrail and then traveled 30 feet or so laterally before rolling 50 feet down a ravine. The driver (Christopher Burnette 25 of Springfield) sustained only minor injuries but was transported to North Crest Medical Center in Springfield.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation by the THP. The driver is very fortunate that his vehicle did not directly impact one of many near by trees. He was also fortunate that another driver witnessed him going over the guardrail. If the driver had sustained serious injuries it could have been hours or even days before he was discovered.
Responding to the accident was the White House Volunteer Fire Department, The Robertson County Sheriff’s Office, the Robertson County EMA and EMS and the Tennessee Highway Patrol. This is the second rollover accident this New Year’s Eve. Earlier in the evening a driver in Ridgetop lost control of a vehicle and it overturned. More in that accident.
UPDATE: According to the THP, no charges have been placed against the driver. We are still waiting on the THP’s crash description and or cause.
