Dump Truck VS Railway Bridge In Springfield
(5th Near Springfield Middle School)
According to officials, the driver of a large dump truck became momentarily distracted and pulled onto the roadway with the bed of the truck in the upright position. Traveling on 5th Ave in Springfield the driver came to the railway bridge near Kinneys Rd. (Exact Location Of Accident) The top edge of the bed (in the upright position) was too high for clearance and the truck impacted the bridge. When the bed of the truck impacted the railway bridge it brought the truck to an instantaneous stop. The impact sent the driver forward into the dash. He was transported to Northcrest Medical Center with injuries to his face and a possible broken nose, officials told Smokey Barn News at the scene. 5th Ave is down to one lane and may likely be closed during the process of towing the truck. A railway bridge inspector was called in to look over the damage to the bridge. The wreck should be cleared by the start of school but you may want to add a few minutes to your travel time or be prepared to choose an alternative route. The accident occurred around 5:00AM, as of 6:10AM officials were still waiting on a tow vehicle.
