Early Morning Crash In Springfield Leaves Questions

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – An early morning crash in Springfield has left authorities with few facts as they begin their investigation into the accident.

The crash occurred on Hillside Dr. near Roy Pitt Rd just after 1 AM early Sunday morning. LOCATION OF CRASH

No injuries were reported in the crash but first responders told Smokey Barn News that they were not sure who the driver was, however, Springfield Police were talking with at least two people at the scene.

Evidence at the scene suggested that the vehicle left the roadway at the top of the hill following a curve on Hillside Dr. and traveled approximately 238 ft (72 m) before hitting a utility pole with enough force to snap it like a twig. The impact left live power lines draped across the roadway and caused a transformer to ignite.

According to officials with Springfield Utilities, the accident disrupted power to just two homes. Hillside Drive was closed for about an hour while officials investigated and the scene was cleared.

Springfield Police are leading the investigation, if more information becomes available we will bring it to you.

Springfield Police, Robertson County EMS,  the Springfield Fire Department and Drake’s Towing & Auto Repair all responded to the crash.
